NAQT-style tossup practice across all academic subjects. Pyramidal questions that reward deep knowledge.
About Quizbowl
Quizbowl is a competitive academic knowledge competition organized primarily by the National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT) and other providers. It features a distinctive pyramidal tossup format where questions start with harder, more obscure clues and become easier toward the end โ rewarding players who have deeper, more nuanced knowledge of a subject.
Teams compete with tossup questions (first to buzz in wins) followed by 3-part bonus questions awarded to the team that answered correctly. Matches are typically 20 tossups per half.
Tossups begin with the hardest clues โ obscure facts a specialist would know โ and end with accessible clues anyone might recognize. Buzzing early earns more points and signals mastery.
Questions span the full academic curriculum. NAQT distributes question points across History, Science, Literature, Fine Arts, Religion/Mythology, Geography, and Other categories.
Scholia's quizbowl practice features infinite tossup-only play in a multiplayer room โ perfect for individuals and study groups buzzing in together from anywhere.
